Lend your dad wisdom to someone who needs it.

Why Join the Dad Letter Project?

Every day, we hear from people who need a Dad. Someone to encourage them, cheer them on, or simply remind them they matter. The Dad Letter Project is about filling that gap, one handwritten letter at a time. Whether you’re a dad, a granddad, or simply someone with a heart for others, your words can make a real difference.

We’re looking for dads who are kind, dependable, and ready to share their wisdom, humor, and heart. You don’t have to be perfect, you just have to show up with intention. (Actually, we prefer imperfect).

After you apply, I (Rosie) personally read every application. I’ll follow up with a quick conversation to make sure this is a good fit for you and for the people who will be receiving your letters. It’s important to me that every volunteer understands the heart of this project. This isn’t a job, it’s a calling to show up for someone in a small but powerful way.

Apply to be a Dad

How It Works

  1. Apply to Join

Fill out the short application (^^) to tell us who you are, why you want to volunteer, and how many letters you’d like to write.

  2. Rosie Will Reach Out

After you apply, I (Rosie) will personally reach out for a quick chat, to make sure you understand the heart of this project and to answer any questions you might have.

  3. Get Matched with Letters

Once you’re in, we’ll start sending you letter requests that match your availability and the type of letters you feel called to write (encouragement, grief, life advice, etc.). You’ll always know a little bit about the person you’re writing to.

  4. Write from the Heart

You’ll write your letters, handwritten or typed, depending on your preference, and send them out.

  5. Stay as Involved as You Want

You can write one letter a month or ten letters a week, it’s up to you. Life changes, and we’re flexible with you. We’ll check in from time to time, and if you want to connect with other dads in the project, we’d love that too.
